Kate’s innate ability to connect with students meant that they were thoroughly engaged and inspired throughout the workshops. Many students utilised this experience as a starting point for their future endeavours in Applied Performance. Throughout my working life I have been involved in creating and delivering training and teaching packages for use within both educational and professional settings.
I regularly teach Applied Theatre at Manchester University and other institutions and recently have run workshops at Salford University on Augusto Boal and Applied Theatre Practice and a course in Participatory work with young people at Manchester Metropolitan University. Other institutions I have worked with include: Warwick University, York St. Johns College and The Conservatoire Glasgow (formerly RSAMD)
At The Men’s Room I developed a series of practice based training events around working creatively with young men, for social care practitioners and have been involved in training professionals to use theatre techniques in their work. With NACRO, The Big Issue and BoxofFrogs, I trained groups of homeless young people to be artist facilitators.
I have run training on a range of issues for diverse clients including staff development away days for YOTs and Mental Health Charity professionals. I have also designed and delivered training in personal and professional development through TiPP, on a consultancy basis and for oher organsiations including 42nd Street, Soho Theatre and Dance United.
