Three winks in three days and Richard Schechner.

By July 10, 2014No Comments

I have been winked at twice in the last three days and then yesterday at The Spiritualist Church, the medium said that a dead husband sent a wink to his wife. This apparent wink from beyond got me thinking about my own winking experiences. Both felt joyful,  two moments of unexpected connection with another.  This is a quality I would like to find in my performance. Although there are many ways of winking, so that “it ain’t that you wink, its the way that you do it, and thats what gets results”. How do we find ways of connecting with others without judgement in a performance context?

I connected this with Richard Shechner’s work in Performance Theory particularly the Efficacy- Entertainment Braid.
